Inspiration from Barcelona!

Writer: Catherine LilburnCatherine Lilburn

On Friday, July 5th, and Saturday, July 6th, my husband and I had the opportunity to attend the 8th ICNM (International Committee of Naturopathic Medicine) Congress in Barcelona. I have been keen to experience this annual event and it was worth the wait!

The Congress was a wonderful experience, featuring speakers from around the globe who shared insights on a wide range of topics. This year's theme was particularly relevant to healthcare in 2024: Immunity, Inflammation, and Mental Health.

Among the standout presentations for me were Nasha Winters' enlightening talk on 'Nature’s Original Immunotherapy,' Lindsay Adrian's deep dive into 'Mitochondria, Chronic Inflammation, and the Immune System,' and Sussanna Czeranko's exploration of 'Dysautonomia and Vagal Tone.'

Unfortunately, we had to hop on a plane home on Saturday afternoon, which meant we missed a few talks. Despite that, it was memorable to be part of an international event in the vibrant city of Barcelona.

The ICNM Congress also reminded me of the incredible talent we have here in Australia. We are fortunate to have outstanding practitioners and educators like Rachel Arthur and Jason Hawrelak making significant contributions to our field. Healthcare is a journey of continuous learning, and I feel fortunate to continue my education and upskilling.
